This new version of our ever popular booklet aimed at families with children attending an Irish school (Gaelscoil, Scoil Ghaeltachta, Gaelcholáiste 7rl) has added vocabulary, guidance and page specific sound file support. On every vocabulary page there is a QR Code image that can be opened with any camera equiped device. The booklet also features an updated Áiseanna ar líne section on online learning aids support imrpoving your Irish. A major addition is the new Foghraíocht na Gaeilge section on the pronunciation of Irish where “learning the ‘code’ [outlined] can allow a learner to correctly sound out the written word to a remarkable degree.”
Déan Comhrá is full of vocabulary and simple phrases that can be adopted to make Irish part of your family life. There are loads of advantages for children in this integration of Irish into family life; leading by example, and praising their efforts, will go a long way in encouarging them. When your child sees your interest in using whatever level of Irish you have they will be inspired to match, and excel, your efforts. It is normal to constantly add to our vocabulary in any language we use and this is a great approach to pass-on to our children – is eochair feasa foghlaim.
