New resources in Irish for children and young people with autism
Gaeloideachas is delighted to be able to expand on their range of supports available to children and young people with special educational needs, in particular new resources for children with autism.
We’re delighted to launch the new pack of 22 resources from Gaeloideachas and AsIAm, Ireland’s National Autism Charity, during April – Autism Awareness Month. These resources will help children and young people with autism to reach their full potential in a naíonra or Irish-medium or Gaeltacht school. They will also help teachers and other students to better understand the needs of children and young people with autism. Irish is the day-to-day language of communication and learning for these young people, and so it is very important to them that these resources are now available in Irish.
The resources include posters, booklets, worksheets, sensory checklists and a passport for naíonraí to help with the transition to school. Gaeloideachas is extremely grateful to AsIAm for their collaboration and enthusiasm for this exciting project and we look forward to working with them again in the future. These resources will be a great help to children and young people with autism in Irish-medium education. They will also benefit everyone in naíonraí and schools by helping to raise awareness of autism at all levels of the education system. There are many children with autism in naíonraí and in Irish-medium and Gaeltacht schools, and we are delighted to be able to provide these pupils, their teachers and their families with excellent resources in Irish.
The resources are available to download as PDFs at the bottom of this page. Please note that not all of the resources are available in print form. To order copies of those that are, please complete the form below.
