New Schools

New Schools

Gaeloideachas works with communities and various patron organisations to establish new Irish-medium schools, both in areas designated for the development of new schools by the Department of Education & Skills and in other areas where the community has determined a demand for Irish-medium education. The success of any application for the recognition of a new school depends on community support and expressions of interest from parents. Help with campaigns to establish new schools is always welcome, and every support is provided to the volunteer committees working to establish schools in their local communities.

Gaeloideachas’ vision is that high-quality Irish-medium immersion education should be available to every parent and guardian who would choose it for their child. If you’re interested in helping to make this a reality, you’ll find information on current campaigns on www.gaelscoil4all.ie

Have your say on the patronage of new schools

The Department of Education’s consultation process for the patronage of new schools is ongoing. Parents have the opportunity to express their preference for patronage of a school in their area. Please visit https://patronage.education.gov.ie/ for further information.

To be eligible to vote, parents must live within the school planning area. You will need your Eircode and your child’s PPS number to verify this.

If you have any questions about the process or about how an Irish-medium school might benefit your child, you’re very welcome to contact us on 01 8535195 or eolas@gaeloideachas.ie.
